VanRoute

    frequently asked questions

How does VanRoute AI plan my road trip?
You describe your trip in one sentence — where you're going, how long, and who's coming. Our AI builds a day-by-day itinerary with stops, distances, toll estimates, wild-camping rules, and seasonal tips.
Is VanRoute AI free to use?
Yes — your first trip plan is completely free, no account needed. Create a free account to keep planning, and to save, share and export your routes.
What countries does VanRoute AI cover?
We focus on Europe — from Portugal to Norway, Scotland to Greece. The AI knows country-specific rules for wild camping, tolls, speed limits, and border crossings.
Can I export my trip to GPS or Google Maps?
Yes. Signed-in users can download their trip as a GPX file (for Garmin, Maps.me, etc.) or open the full route directly in Google Maps.
    Do I need an account?
Not for your first trip — plan it without signing up. A free account lets you keep planning, save trips, share routes with a link, export to GPX, and personalise your recommendations.
Does VanRoute AI know the wild camping rules for each country?
Yes. The planner includes country-specific wild camping and overnight parking laws — from Sweden's allemansrätten to France's aire system and Portugal's updated motorhome regulations.
Can I adjust my route after it's generated?
Absolutely. Use the refine box to add stops, shorten the trip, change the route focus, or adjust for weather. The AI rebuilds around your changes.
Is VanRoute AI useful for motorhomes and larger vehicles?
Yes. The planner accounts for vehicle size when suggesting routes — avoiding roads with weight limits, low bridges, or tight mountain passes that aren't suitable for larger vans and motorhomes.
